Thank you so much for working through all the technical shipping issues when trying to get a 120 lb. (12 HP) motor all the way to Alaska for such a reasonable price. Talking with you folks felt like talking with family. I’m equally thankful for how quickly the motor came. I look forward to running the shallow and rocky tributaries of the Yukon River with your motor attached to my freighter canoe. I’ll post some hunt stories, and pictures of caribou, moose, and bear hunting. Might even get a few pictures of duck hunting in there too, but that’s just for fun, doesn’t fill the meat cache! I’ll also post stories of how your motor initially performed after my Yukon trip (May-June).
I bought a Copperhead back in August 2010. Had it installed on my oler 1436 jon boat. It’s not super fast but runs great. Light and nice power. Haven’t had any issues with it. Easy upkeep. I suggest if you are looking for a small mudmotor to get in some small ponds, this IS what you are looking for. Thanks for everything Copperhead.
Purchased a 12 h.p. from Backwoods Landing. After a little glitch in the order I got my motor. Can only say that its terrific. I have it on a 1442 G3 John boat and clocked it at 17 mph, (GPS), with 2 pretty good size guys in the boat. The electric start and remote fuel options I would consider a must have. Motor seems to like gas a bit more than the 9.9 hp 4 stroke outboard it replaces. I would highly recommend this motor, Backwoods Landing and Gil at Copperhead.
Great Job on the 12hp. I have one of Cody Reese’s boats DeadDux LLC 14’4″. We had 2 guys over 200lbs and a 12hp Copperhead and we hit 22 mph. Goodness that motor will skin it back!!!
Gil and Josh took me out yesterday 8/14/11 on my 16X36 custom rig. They mounted the new 18hp Vanguard. It ran 23 MHP with two guys. The customer service over there was awesome. They answered all question to my satisfaction and were extremely knowledgeable of their product.
I love my 6.5 hp Copperhead. I’ve got it on the back of a 13 ft Gheenoe and it goes ANYWHERE. Not only through the hydrilla in north Alabama, but the stump fields and mud with 6 inches of water on top.
Pull start isn’t a problem , the motor cranks on the first pull.
It’s ALL GOOD!
Tom
I have a specially built 13 gheenoe I use on the St. Johns River. Can you tell me more about the 6.5 and how you use it? Number of people? Weight, Speed etc?
I purchased a 12 Hp motor from Deaddux LLC and it is everything and more than what I was expecting. This motor has expanded my hunting area my miles. Hunting holes that used to take hours by canoe are now just minutes away. I recommend this motor to anyone looking to hunt smaller and lighter boats that are much more managable than the larger boats that if stuck are much harder to free up in the marsh. I will run my Copperhead for as long as I hunt duck, fish and blue crab in the Everglades. That’s going to hopefully by a very long time.
Just ordered your 6-1/2 HP Cu-Head from Florida Mud Motors in Melbourne (Mr. Lamarr Cox). Own a wood flat boat, about 16 ft long, but thought the 110 pound 10 HP set up would be too much for the light wood transom. Will post a review after I install and run it.
I just wanted to drop y’all a line and tell you thanks for the great transportation for this first split of duck season up here in N. Louisiana. The 12hp Copperhead I bought a month ago has been the very ticket for this low water situation we have experienced up here the last two years. We now have 4 copperhead mud motor owners up here and several more looking as I write this. They seem to have sold themselves!!
Just an FYI for all. I mounted a 12hp Copperhead Mud Motor on a 1436 jon boat. We have carried 3 BIG men, decoys, blind bags, guns, shells…cooking ( I mean a boat loaded) and still cruise at a tolerable speed and travel regularly (without any problems) in water that would barely be ankle deep. That is just incredible! It allows up to hunt areas that would otherwise be unavailable or a terrible trek in by foot.
Great product at a great price – - Thanks Folks,

I bought the 18hp this fall and ran the hell out of it all duck season. Started up right away in freezing temps, pushed us thru gumbo mud, put us in some tight spots and more importantly got us back out. NO ISSUES….. great product. Best of all its light, zero maintenance and burns very little fuel. If your thinking about getting one, order now. These guy get slammed come the summer and fall.
Any of you guys out there that thought the 18 hp was bad ass, well it just got better. Copperhead now offers a clutch. I have mine being installed now. I will repost how it performs. No doubt it will be a great addition.
